Islamic Da`wah Center-Main Street View

The front of the building is reminiscent of ancient Greek colonnaded architecture. The ex-Houston National Bank is one of four banks once stood on the corners of Main Street and Franklin; only three of these historical landmarks is standing today.

Islamic Da`wah Center-Main Prayer Hall

The prayer hall area can easily accommodate 1200 people for prayers. On the right side of the picture stands the [mín baàr] a wooden platform hand carved in Egypt. It is simply a raised area for the [I maám], leader of prayer, to address the worshipers during Friday prayers. This piece of art is reminiscent the [mámlook] Islamic era; Muslim rulers of Egypt from the 13th to the 16th century. Attached to the right of the [mín baàr] is a wooden panel of Egyptian mosaics.




Islamic Da`wah Center- Mezzanine

These massive columns of colorful marble imported from Europe. The top of columns are layered with marble sheets hand carved in Egypt with verses from the Quran.

Beautiful hand made Persian rugs with Islamic design covers the main prayer hall.




Islamic Da`wah Center-Interior Dome

This beautiful dome atop the main prayer hall is a work of art. Engraved in its center is the star of the state of Texas. The two anchors symbolize the ex-bank image of assurance and security.
